I love getting to do sessions at my client’s homes. Its an all around more relaxed feeling of just hanging out with friends. The pets are more relaxed in their familiar surroundings and in turn the owners are more relaxed. If your pet gets anxious in the car or is easily distracted in a new environment, then your home is the best choice for a photo shoot. Your home doesn’t have to be a “model home” to be a great backdrop for portraits. Just give me some big windows or sliding glass doors that can let in lots of light, and we can make it work! I also love that my clients’ homes really showcase their personality and what’s most important to them. It helps me design a shoot that highlights their unique bond with their pet and select products that can really tell that story.
This session was the perfect example of what my in home sessions are like – chatting and laughing with the owners, while loving on the pups. Scooter is a very smart and sweet little Schnauzer, who was just excited to have someone around to pet him and shower him with treats. I adore his ears. Snickers is a rescued Lhasa Mix, who loved the attention, but was terrified of the camera. We took several minutes just allowing him to get used to this crazy contraption being pointed at him. After lots of patience and positive reinforcement, I won him over and we captured some fun images.
