Will Run For Wine – A Trip To Wine Country | Traveling Photographer

My husband and I share a love for traveling. Its one of our favorite hobbies. We love exploring new places and soaking up the beauty of God’s creation. We especially love the West Coast. Our first time to see the Pacific Ocean together was in 2008 and we’ve been back several times since then, exploring the California coast and the Pacific Northwest.

We also share a love for running. My husband’s love runs a little deeper (Ha! See what I did there?) since he’s the Marathon Maniac in our family, and I am a Half Fanatic. If you share our love of running, you’ll understand those terms, if not, suffice it to say, we might be a little crazy. In the last couple of years we’ve been able to combine our love of travel with our love of running by doing destination races in fun places. We’ve been to Sacramento, New Orleans, Chicago, Kansas City, Napa, and later this year Grand Rapids for races.

We also share a love of wine. And we recently combined our love for the West Coast, with our love for running, and our love of wine for the perfect trifecta! On top of that, several of our friends from Texas met us there, and it made for a trip that we will cherish for a life time. I ran the Napa2Sonoma Half Marathon with some of the girls I used to run with in Texas, and then we explored San Francisco and the Wine Country and drank all of the wine. Well, the truth is we toured a couple of wineries the day before the race too. I think we were in denial that we were there to run, but it all worked out and we had a blast before, during and after the race.

Our favorite winery was Castello Di Amorosa. Its an authentic replica of an Italian castle and was quite beautiful to explore. Their wine was also our favorite. We only came back with 2 bottles though. We’ll have to make another trip!HuntsvillePhotographer-2085

As we were walking up to drawbridge we encountered a couple of kitties, so naturally I had to snap some photos.

The architecture of the castle was really fascinating and the surrounding view was just breath taking. We toured a few other wineries during our trip, but none of them stirred my soul like Castello!HuntsvillePhotographer-2084

HuntsvillePhotographer-2100We also spent a day exploring San Francisco and eating as much seafood as we could find. The fog greeted us in the morning, but by afternoon had moved out and the sun was shining. It was really perfect weather for our trip!

And on our last day we spent time visiting the beautiful Redwoods. These majestic trees always take my breath away and leave my soul feeling refreshed.

Its nice to get to sleep in my bed again, and enjoy the familiar beauty of Huntsville, but I sure wish I could trade out the weather! Its definitely summertime in the south, here! I’m thankful for such a wonderful time with dear friends, surrounded by beautiful scenery and the most amazing weather!
